Unit 2

Unit 2

Day 1
Daily objective: Review of slopes of line; slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. Slope is the amount of number something increases over time. To have a parallel slope you have the same slope.
Quiz
1) Will the lines of these equations be parallel? 2x-6 , and 2x-3

2)If two equations have the same exponent will they be parallel?

3) write equations for these lines.
Answer key:
1.)  Yes they would be parallel.

2.) Yes if the exponents are the same they will be parallel. (look in answer key one to see work)

3.) y=1/3x + 2.333 y=1/3x-2

Day 2

Daily objective: Review Pythagorean theorem. Definitions of angles. Triangle sum; triangle classifications. Distance formula. Pythagorean theorem is the method used to determine the length of a side of a triangle when you have two other sides.
1)

1

Quiz;
She said that they hypotenuse is 13 inches and one of the legs is 5 inches. What is the length of the other leg?

2) Find the missing measure in a right triangle if a = 9 ft and b = 12 ft.

3) Find the missing measure in a right triangle a=4 and b=12

Answer Key

                                                   Day 3
Daily objective: Simplify radicals; distance formula can be introduced.
Quiz:
1) Simplify the square root of 64.

2.) Simplify two square roots of 64.

3.) Simplify the square root of 50.

Answer Key

Day 4
Daily objective: Vertical angles; multiplication of radicals.

Quiz:
1.) Would the angles A and B be the same in the picture below?

2.) If A=90 degrees than what does B equal?

Day 5
Daily objective: addition and subtraction of radicals.

Quiz:
1) 8 sq roots of 3 + 5 sq roots of 3
2)8 sq roots of 4 - 4 sq roots of 4
3) 5 sq roots of 3 + 6 sq roots of 3

Answer Key

Day 6:
Daily objective: special right triangles. A 30-60-90 triangle means that one angle is 30 degrees, one is 60 degrees, and one is 90 degrees. All angles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees.
Quiz
1.) What are two examples of special right triangles?

2.) What number do all of the angles in a triangle add up to?

3.) What does the square box in the place of the angle number mean?

Answer Key
1.) There is a 30-60-90 triangle, and a 45-45-90 triangle.

2.) All of the angles in a triangle add up to the number 180.

3.) It means that the angle is a 90 degree angle.
Day 7:
Daily objective: volume of prism, pyramid, cylinder, and cone. Volume is the amount of space a certain object can hold.

Quiz:
Find the volume of a cylinder, cone , and prism with the base of 5 ft, the height of 12 ft. and a width of 5 ft.
1) prism:
2) Cylinder:
3) Cone:

Answer Key

Day 8:
Daily objective :volume of prism, pyramid, cylinder, and cone. The volume is the amount of space something can hold.
Quiz
